Tuesday, January 12th KSDE KIDS Entries No Longer Automatically Loaded Into BAIP
In the past we've automatically moved KSDE KIDS system entries into BAIP. While this worked the majority of the time, we continually struggled with a small percentage of student records that failed to transfer. Because districts did not have to load their own students, district contacts were unfamiliar with the tools used to fix these occasional problems. In having districts now load their students into BAIP themselves, an increased familiarity with the "Add Students" section of the "BAIP District Tools" will reduce the barrier caused by these missing student records.
WHO TO ADD: Students only need to be loaded into BAIP once. Younger students or students new to your district are more likely to need loading, but BAIP makes it easy to enter many students at once (see below). It's easiest to simply load a list of all your students and let BAIP figure out who's already been loaded who is new to the system.
SYMPTOM: If you try to add unloaded students to a BAIP class, the system will report that its doesn't recognize that student's state id. This indicates that the student still needs to be loaded into BAIP. Contact your BAIP district contact for a solution.
SOLUTION - HOW TO LOAD STUDENTS: Districts contacts use the "BAIP District Tools" (http://baip.elearndesign.org/tools) and click on the "Add Students" tab to load students into BAIP.
Students can be entered one at time or an excel spreadsheet can be used to easily load many students at once. Under the "Add Students" tab one can find a sample excel template and simple instructions
on how to adjust student excel files you might already have.
