Why is B correct? 5 •  2 Correct. Each row has 5 objects and there are 2 rows. We write 5 for the number in each row and 2 for the number of rows. 5 • 2 = 10 objects. Since we read from left to right, we would read this as (5 taken 2 times equals 10.) Then we would change the words “taken, times, and equals” with (5 • 2 = 10)

Why is B correct? 4 •  4 Correct . Each row has 4 objects and there are 4 rows. We write 4 for the number in each row and 4 for the number of rows. 4 •  4 =16 objects. Since we read from left to right, we would read this as (4 taken 4 times equals 16.) Then we would change the words "taken, times, and equals" with (4 4 =16).
