Handling Unrecognized Student IDs

Today we'll be looking at a common problem teachers face when trying to add students to their BAIP classes. This same problem occurs when district contacts set up classes for their teachers using the district tools.

Lets pretend you get a new student in you class, John Doe, and you try to add him to your class (Fig 1) ("My Classes" tab >> "Manage Class" >> "Add & Remove Students"). Instead of getting a green confirmation message telling you the student has been added, you get the confusing "Unrecognized IDs" error message (Fig 2). What does this mean? How do we fix it?

What the error message means

Assuming that you've entered the state id number correctly, it means that the student record has not been entered into BAIP. In the last BAIP Bulletin we described how students added to the KSDE KIDS system will no longer automatically load into BAIP. This means that until someone in your district adds a student into BAIP, BAIP won't recognize their id numbers, and you won't be able to add that student into your classes.

How Do You Get Someone To Load Students Into BAIP?

The accompanying error message pretty well says it all:
"Correctly entered IDs appearing in this list indicate students who still need to be loaded into BAIP.

District Contacts (found on the ignore Contacts page) can visit http://baip.elearndesign.org/district_tools and add missing students for you."
Basically this error message tells you that that there are a handful of people right in your district who have the ability to load students into BAIP. To find your district contacts, all you have to do is click the "Contacts" link in the upper right hand corner of the page.

My District Contact Says They Don't Know How To Load Students Into BAIP

No problem! Send them to the following BAIP Bulletin article which tells them exactly what to do!
