How To Begin Using BAIP
You’ve heard about BAIP and now you want to check it out and see if it’s right for you as a teacher.
Step 1: Find BAIP
BAIP delivers standards driven lessons and tutorials entirely online. Open a web browser and point it at the main BAIP website, http://baip.elearndesign.org/ .
Step 2: Sign Into BAIP
Everyone who uses BAIP signs into their own personal account. Maybe you are wondering what your password is or are wondering how you register for an account. Teachers don’t register for accounts because districts are responsible for adding BAIP teacher accounts. Either your district has added you, hasn’t added you, or your district hasn’t registered to use BAIP. In the last case it only takes a few moments to register a district to use BAIP. On the upper right side of the sign page you’ll see a “contacts” link that lists the emails and phone numbers of the BAIP main office staff. Any of us can quickly walk a district superintendent through the registration process.
If you believe your district has registered to use BAIP, but you aren’t sure if an account has been set up for you, there is quick way to find out if you’ve been added into BAIP. Click the “Forgot Your Password?” link on the sign in page. On the password reminder page, enter your email and hit the submit button. If you get a green message saying a reminder has been sent, then you’re in the system (check your email for your password). If you get a red message saying the email isn’t recognized, then that means the email you’ve provided isn’t in the system. Before you decide you haven’t been entered, check to make sure you’ve entered the email correctly. Also try entering any alternative emails you might use. Many school districts utilize district issued emails so make sure and try one of these if you have one. If you continue to get a red message saying your email isn’t in the BAIP system, feel free to use the “contacts” link in the upper right hand corner of the page to contact the BAIP main office and find out who in your district has the authority to add you to BAIP.
Now, if you clicked on “Forgot your password?” and received a green message saying your password was emailed to you, it should show up almost immediately. If the email doesn’t reach you, it most likely means the email went out but it didn’t reach you for some reason. That reason might be an email that is attached to a dead account, or it may be getting caught in a spam blocker. Emails from the BAIP system come from the following email: info@elearndesign.org. You’ll want to make sure any personal spam filters allow this email through. Where problems persist, you might consider passing this email along to district email administrators who can then make certain their own spam filters allow this email through.
Once you have your password, type it in exactly as it has been sent to you, keeping upper case and lower case the same. Better yet, cut and paste the password into the sign in form. Enter your email, hit the submit button, and you should be signed into BAIP. If you are having ANY questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at the BAIP main office using the “contacts” link in the upper left corner of the page.
Step 3: Change Your Password
So you don’t have to continue to enter in one of those highly confusing BAIP generated passwords, we recommend you change your password shortly after you sign in for the first time. After you sign in, you’ll be taken to the “My Classes” page by default. In addition to a list of your BAIP classes (if you or the district has set any up for you yet) there is a link on the left side of the page that reads, “Change Your Password”. Clicking on this link or clicking on your name at the top of most pages will take you to page that allows you to enter a more you friendly password.
Step 4: Explore
There’s lot to see and do in BAIP. The “My Classes” tab is where you’ll set up and manage your classes. The “My Content” is where you can view and assign BAIP lessons and tutorials to the classes you’ve set up. If you look through the “Tech Updates” in prior BAIP Bulletin issues, you’ll find detailed explanations of how to use tools found under both of these tabs.
