Reporting Errors & Contacting BAIP

What’s an Error
In the narrowest sense, an error is a mistake in content or a problem with the delivery of that content.  In the broadest sense errors can mean anything you want to see improved about BAIP.  To report mistakes, you can use BAIP’s “Report Error” system.  To tell us about how you think BAIP can be improved, you can use our “Contacts” system.

Report Error” Link
In the upper right side of most pages in BAIP you will see a “Report Error” link (Fig 1).

We classify 3 kinds of errors in our system:  errors encountered in tutorials, errors encountered in lessons, and a third catch-all category called “Other” (Fig 2).

BAIP Error Types

The form fields you see on the error reporting form will vary depending on which error type you select.  With all 3 types you’ll see a “Description” box where you describe the problem you’re having or the mistake you’ve found.

Additionally, if you select “Error in Tutorial” or “Error in Lesson”, you’ll also see form fields asking you to enter the indicator and item number affiliated with the tutorial or lesson in question (Fig 3).  If you are viewing a tutorial or lesson, and then click the “Report Error” link, the appropriate error type, indicator, and item number fields will be filled out automatically.

Any reported errors show up instantly in our error management system.  BAIP staff will contact you via email to let you know that we’ve received your report.  We’ll also contact you when we fix the error.

 “Contacts” Link
While you’re welcome to use the “Other” category in our error reporting system to communicate improvements you’d like see in BAIP, you should also fee free to email us directly.  In the upper right side of most BAIP pages is a link that reads “Contacts” with a small picture of an envelope beside it (Fig 1).

After following the “Contacts” link, you’ll notice two kinds of contacts:  local “District Contacts” and BAIP “Main Office” contacts.  The notes on the right side of the page give tips on who to contact when.

You are ALWAYS welcome to contact the main office.  If you’ve read the notes on the right side of the page and still aren’t sure who to contact, email any of us at the Main Office and we’ll make sure your input gets to the right party.

Don’t worry about sending your feedback to the wrong person at the BAIP main office.  We understand that sometimes it’s hard to tell what category an error report or comment belongs too.  (i.e. “I’m not sure if this is a Content issue or a Technical issue.”).  Just pick someone and send us an email.  We’ll make sure your reports and comments are properly and carefully tended to.

Thanks for using BAIP and thanks for helping us make BAIP better.  As always, please feel free to contact me with your questions and comments.
