See How Students Answered Questions Inside of A Tutorial

View Overall Tutorial Scores

Last time we talked about how teachers could use display properties to control how overall tutorial scores appeared on screen.  We talked about ways teachers could view individual student scores, view scores by first or latest attempt, view scores in indicator order or in date assigned order, and toggle between seeing all scores at once and seeing a limited number.

We also talked about how display properties determine what gets included in an Excel file when the Excel generation button (Fig. 1) is pressed.

View Questions by Question Scores

But what if a teacher wants to burrow down into a tutorial score and see how their students answered each question inside a tutorial?

Each column in the overall score display represents an assigned tutorial, and has a title in the following form: “Tutorial # Details”.  These titles are clickable links (Fig. 2) that allow teachers to view question by question response details for that particular tutorial.

Answer Grid (Fig. 3)

In the detailed, question by question view of a tutorial, one will see an answer grid on the left and a currently selected question on the right.  The answer grid shows student responses for all questions in the current tutorial.  Correct responses are shown in green and incorrect responses are show in red.  Where a student hasn’t taken the current tutorial, the response is left blank.

2 green rows immediately above and below the student data indicate the correct answers for each of the questions in the tutorial.

A bar graph at the bottom shows class performance for each of the questions.  For each bar, the percentage correct will be shown in green, the percentage incorrect will be shown in red, and the percentage unanswered will complete the bar to the top.

Currently Selected Question (Fig. 4)
On the right side one of the questions in the tutorial will be displayed.

On the top of the answer grid there is a row listing all the questions in the tutorial.  Each question takes the form: “Q#”.  One of the questions is also colored dark green, indicating that it is the currently displayed question on the right side of the screen.

These question titles are also clickable links.  One can view each of the questions in the tutorial by clicking the various questions titles in this row.  As one does so, the highlighted question in the answer grid will change and the new question will be displayed on the right.
