BAIP Exchange

The BAIP Exchange column is similar to an FAQ column. Questions that are frequently asked will be quoted or paraphrased and an appropriate answer provided. In other situations, a response may be given to a single question as it may be encountered by other teachers. A submit form appears at the end of this column as we welcome your input to this section. Samples questions and answers follow.

Question
I have spent some time in BAIP going through the tutorials and resources available online but wondered if there are any other resources or documentation that will help me.  I know there are training sessions offered at some of the service centers but our district will not be sending me to those.
Answer
Yes, you can access three short videos that explain the BAIP lesson format, the tutorial format, and the management system. To access the tutorials, log into BAIP and click the link entitled Getting Started located under the tools on the left side of the screen. If you need additional help when you are viewing a lesson, click the Help tab located under the resource heading on the left side of the screen

Question
Can students be assigned to more than one class?
Answer
Yes, students can be assigned to more than one class. However, if one of the teachers assigns a tutorial, the student’s performance on the tutorial will appear in each of the teacher’s rosters.

Questions
One of my teachers is having trouble entering her students into the system.  She can get one entered but the others are not going in. What should we do?
Answer
To add a student (onto a roster?) into a classroom, the student must be entered into the overall BAIP student pool. Many students will already be in the student pool as a result of the nightly upload from the KIDS system under test collect. However, there will be students who have not been entered into the KIDS test collection system. To enter these students into the BAIP student pool, a BAIP authorized individual will need to go to the BAIP teacher registration site, click the Add Student tab, and upload an excel document containing students’ names and state id numbers. Once the excel document is uploaded, teachers can enter the student’s id number into the class rooster and the student name will appear.
